I've never made soap before so was wondering if this is considered cold processed soap and if so, does it need to be aged before use? And one more question...how did your daughter get that pretty rustic edge when cutting the soap?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00842802997961267805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1096690160429788176.post-77664389009579997202013-01-25T07:24:42.419-08:002013-01-25T07:24:42.419-08:00This recipe makes eight 4.5 ounce bars :)This recipe makes eight 4.5 ounce bars :)Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17311687966680929090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1096690160429788176.post-2778284779375842742012-12-07T16:34:22.249-08:002012-12-07T16:34:22.249-08:00How much soaP does this recipe make? How much soaP does this recipe make?Good Patinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03278845501785483103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1096690160429788176.post-73673397249190872192012-01-27T09:07:46.866-08:002012-01-27T09:07:46.866-08:00The benefit of letting the ingredients sit over ni...The benefit of letting the ingredients sit over night is that they are both room temp. If you are pressed for time you could use a cool water bath and a thermometer to get the lye/water and oils to 70F but that seems a little fussy to me.

There really isn't any danger of soap splashing into my daughters face because the container is very deep for the amount of soap and we don't use a stick blender. As you can see in the last pic the soap doesn't even splash on the sides of the container :)Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17311687966680929090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1096690160429788176.post-74615898143507091142012-01-27T08:30:37.558-08:002012-01-27T08:30:37.558-08:00Great info! Do you know what the benefits of that would be?

Also, I would recommend your sweet one wear a plastic face shield while working with lye...it splashes so easy and burns like the dickens!!! :)

Take care,
-=Sarah
www.beewenchfarm.comSarah Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03162833898141771277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1096690160429788176.post-16927320420249434092012-01-24T17:42:20.912-08:002012-01-24T17:42:20.912-08:00Someday that will be me-sigh. ...Great instructions and a lovely finished project!

While cleaning out my freezer I found 2 small containers of goat milk that had been forgotten. They are over a year old. Do you think it would be OK to thaw and use this milk to make soap? I will not have any fresh milk until march.Mamma Bearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10781533611079940480noreply@blogger.com
